Taking your electrical items on holiday

When you are going on holiday abroad you will want to take some electrical items with you such as hairdryer, straighteners and probably items that will need charging such as tablets, Bluetooth headphones and mobile phones. Mostly abroad the plug sockets will be different to the standard UK 3 pin sockets so you will need to buy adapters. Ensure that the adapters that you get are suitable to the country where you are going, and also that they are safety rated to the UK standard.

You may also want to take short extension cords with you, these can be really useful as often you get into your hotel room and find that the plugs are in really inconvenient locations. Just be careful to not overload the sockets otherwise this could be a fire risk.

Ensure that your more expensive electrical items, such as tablets and mobile phones are fully insured for travel and also kept securely in your room safe when you are not using them.

If you don’t have access to a safe you may want to hide your items out of sight on top of wardrobes or under mattresses so that they are not easily seen if someone comes in to service your room.
